I've been blogging for six years over at Still They Were Beautiful. I've written about everything there, from musings on faith to the pipes breaking under the kitchen sink. Recently, I decided to start a second blog with a more specific focus: decorating, creativity, making a home, and my Etsy store.
The White Peony is a place for noticing beauty. I love beautiful things, whether that be a chippy, old bucket, or a blooming redbud tree, or the song of a robin coming through an open spring window. Through the created world, the beauty of Christ beckons, and I believe that our homes can also be filled with that beauty and order.
I live in the Midwest with my husband, Aaron. We've been married almost four years. We met while folding t-shirts in a hot factory - I'll have to tell you the story sometime.
We're expecting our first child, a girl, in September. We couldn't be more excited! We also have a furry friend who lives with us. Maggie, our Golden Retriever, is the most people-lovin' dog you'll ever meet. Come over, and she'll want to jump on you and lick you to no end. We're working on the jumping part...
This summer, we're getting ready to move into a bungalow I've loved from the curb for three years. You know those houses? The ones you pass on a walk through the neighborhood, and you always wonder what it would be like to live there? This house has "good bones", as my Mom says, but it still needs a lot of TLC in the form of new paint, new bathrooms, a kitchen re-haul, and more. I'll be chronicling our fixer-upper adventures here.
