The Shop

In the fall of 2011, I got brave and opened Chestnut Street Cupboard, an Etsy shop.  I sold vintage goods on Etsy for around eight months, and then we left for the summer.  When we returned home,  I never got the shop rolling again.

Two years later, I decided to give the Etsy store thing another try, this time under the name of The White Peony.  Peonies have been my favorite flower since Aaron bought me one on our first anniversary.  We were in Crested Butte, Colorado, walking through a farmer's market, and there was a bucket of fresh peony stems among zucchini and tomatoes and jams.  Just one flower is such a art piece!  Peonies capture the fresh, sweet, beautiful sense I want my home to have.

the anniversary peony...and aww...we're holding hands

In The White Peony, I decided to only sell things I love.   Things I consider art.  When you visit the shop, I want you to feel like you are walking into a darling brick-and-mortar building filled with displays you can't stop looking at.  When you receive a purchase in the mail, I want you to feel as though it was assembled just for you - because it was!

Most of all, I hope the shop reminds of you how lovely life is.  How, even in the midst of all the terrible things CNN reminds us of each night, there is beauty and hope.  God is working His redemption in a million tiny ways, and when we stop to notice, it can change our lives.
